It was a pleasure doing an interview with the people’s champion Tam Cowan discussing Celtic‘s season in detail and it was a huge honour to interview such a Scottish Football radio legend. His regular radio show Off the Ball every Saturday lunchtime and now Sunday‘s as well during these times has been a godsend giving the Scottish Football community great laughter and for us to interview him was such a privilege. Thanks again Tam.
‘MONEY WASTED ON FLOPS’

Tam who has now been involved in “the most petty and ill-informed sports programme on radio (Off the Ball)” for 26 years now declared that Celtic‘s downfall this season has been down to, “a lot of money wasted on flops” but “a vastly-improved Rangers team under Gerrard being totally relentless.” Tam is Motherwell’s biggest celebrity fan and adds that, “I still think it’s only Motherwell who‘ve scored against them at Ibrox in the league!”
’A CLUB LEGEND, UNDOUBTEDLY‘

We asked Tam, who now does his COVID CHRONICLES in his column in the Daily Record, about how the Celtic fans should perceive Neil Lennon overall as a player and a manager and he said, “a club legend, undoubtedly, but with the 10 being a foregone conclusion to many people a few months ago, the recent capitulation has definitely taken the shine off his managerial career (which, to a Motherwell fan, does seem to be a wee bit bonkers after securing an historic quadruple Treble.”
‘PUT AN SOS OUT TO LIFELONG FAN BRENDAN‘

As Tam doesn’t have a dug in the race we were also intrigued to find out who the PLZ Soccer contributor thinks should be the next Celtic gaffer and he jokingly replied, “get David Turnbull as player-manager. The former Motherwell man is going right to the top, mark my words.” Tam has also backed a return for popular Celtic man Brendan Rodgers, “or put an SOS to lifelong fan Brendan Rodgers - surely he wouldn’t turn down the club he supported as a boy.”
‘RANGERS THE TEAM TO BEAT NEXT SEASON’

After Rangers officially winning the title with 6 games to go, Tam who has recently started a new Scoff the Ball podcast avaliable on BBC Sounds says that next season, ”Rangers will be the team to beat and I just hope we get a PROPER title race next season.” Tam also added that, ”in terms of Celtic v Rangers (on who will win the league next season) I’d have to spin a coin to see who’ll finish 2nd to Motherwell...”
It was brilliant interviewing Tam Cowan, we thank him for taking time out of his day to answer questions on Celtic’s season, it certianly was a pleasure. We hope you enjoyed it!
